Effective 26 September 2026 · Last updated 20 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and the operator of Krokiet. They set out what the service is and the rules for using it. How we handle personal data is covered in the privacy policy.
1.1Artur Witkowski, a sole trader entered in the Polish Central Register and Information on Business Activity (CEIDG), ul. Stefana Batorego 23/7, 81-365 Gdynia, Poland, NIP 5862405430, REGON 528542614 ("we", "us"), operates the Krokiet app and the website krokiet.app. You can contact us at contact@krokiet.app, in English or Polish.
1.2These terms are the terms of service for services provided by electronic means (regulamin) required by article 8 of the Polish Act of 18 July 2002 on providing services by electronic means. They also contain the information that Regulation (EU) 2022/2065, the Digital Services Act, requires from a hosting service.
1.3These terms are available free of charge at krokiet.app/terms.html, including before you create an account. You can save or print them from your browser at any time.
1.4These terms exist in English and Polish. Both versions have equal force.
1.5Under Japan's Act on Specified Commercial Transactions, we disclose our phone number without delay to anyone who asks for it at contact@krokiet.app.
2.1Krokiet is an app for iPhone and Android for recording restaurant meals and rating the dishes together with friends. Using it is free and it shows no ads. Krokiet Plus and a single unlocked bill, described in clauses 2.5 to 2.15, are optional paid extras.
2.2With an account you can:
2.3"Content" means anything you put into Krokiet, including your name, meals, scores, photos, places, menu lines and reports.
2.4"Public content" means places you add and menu lines saved from your menu scans. Every Krokiet user can see public content, without your name. All other content is visible only to you and to the friends you have both accepted. Krokiet has no public profiles, feed, comments or messaging.
2.5Krokiet Plus adds papers and stickers for the bill and a frame around your face. It changes only how your bill and your face look in the app. Scores, the map, rankings and every other feature stay free, with no limits.
2.6You can buy Krokiet Plus for a month, for a year, or once for life. The app shows the price, the period and the renewal date before you pay. The store shows the price in your currency. Where prices include VAT or a similar tax, as in the EU, that price is final. Where local law requires tax to be added at checkout, as in the United States and Canada, the store adds sales tax before you confirm the purchase.
2.7We supply Krokiet Plus. Apple sells it to you through the App Store, or Google through Google Play, and takes the payment. Their own terms apply to the payment, including refunds. To buy it you need an Apple or Google account with a payment method. The contract for Krokiet Plus is concluded when the store confirms the purchase, and the store sends you that confirmation.
2.8A monthly or yearly subscription renews automatically for the same period at the end of each period, until you cancel it. The store charges each renewal to the payment method on your store account. To stop the next renewal, cancel in your App Store or Google Play settings at least 24 hours before the current period ends. "Manage subscription" in Profile opens those settings. Plus then lasts until the end of the period you paid for.
2.9We may change the price of future subscription periods. The store tells you before the new price applies and, where its rules require it, asks for your consent. You can cancel before the new price applies. A price change never affects a period you have already paid for.
2.10Krokiet Plus "For life" is a one-time payment, with no renewals and no end date. "For life" means for as long as Krokiet runs, not for the whole of your life. If we decide to shut Krokiet down, we tell you in the app and by email at least 30 days in advance, and Plus "For life" ends when Krokiet does. This does not limit your rights under mandatory consumer law.
2.11Apple or Google processes the payment for Krokiet Plus, depending on where you buy it. You cancel a subscription in your account settings in that store, and the cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. You ask for a refund, including under the 14-day right of withdrawal that consumers in the EU, the EEA and the United Kingdom have, from the store that took the payment. We have no access to those payments and cannot refund them ourselves. If the store refuses a refund that you believe the law entitles you to, write to contact@krokiet.app. We reply within 14 days and help you with the store. This does not limit your consumer rights, including those in clause 2.12.
2.12Krokiet Plus must conform to the contract, and you have the rights that chapter 5b of the Polish Consumer Rights Act gives a consumer for digital content. If Plus doesn't work as described, report it under section 9. We bring it into conformity free of charge within a reasonable time. If that isn't possible or doesn't work, you may ask for a price reduction or withdraw from the contract. The price is returned through Apple or Google, and we help you with that request. These terms don't limit those rights.
2.13When Krokiet Plus ends, bills you decorated while you had it keep their looks. You can no longer add Plus papers or stickers to new bills, and the frame around your face disappears until Plus returns.
2.14Krokiet Plus works on every phone where you sign in to the same Krokiet account. "Restore purchase" on the Krokiet Plus screen, which opens from Profile, brings back Plus you bought on the same Apple or Google account, for example on a new phone. We may add papers, stickers and frames to Krokiet Plus. We don't promise how many, or when.
2.15You can also unlock a single bill without Krokiet Plus, for a one-time payment. That bill then keeps every Plus paper and sticker for good, and everybody at the table sees it the same way. The payment covers that one bill only, and deleting the dinner does not refund it. Clauses 2.7, 2.11 and 2.12 apply to it the same way as to Krokiet Plus.
3.1To use Krokiet you need:
3.2Camera and location access are optional. The camera is needed only to photograph dishes and menus. Location is needed only to centre the map on you or to find the restaurant you are in. The rest of the app works without them.
3.3Using any internet service carries risks such as malware, phishing and account takeover.
3.4The sign-in code and sign-in link we email you give access to your account. Don't forward them or show them to anyone.
3.5Friends who can see your meals and photos can take screenshots or copies of them. We can't control those copies.
4.1You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you need the consent of a parent or legal guardian where the law of your country requires it.
4.2Each person may have one account. Your account is personal and you may not transfer it.
4.3The contract between us is concluded when you create an account, the first time you sign in. It runs for an indefinite term, until one of us ends it under section 10.
5.1Krokiet has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. These rules apply to all Content.
5.2You may not post Content that is:
5.3Only post photos you took yourself or have the right to share.
5.4When you photograph a menu, aim the camera at the menu, not at people. Everything in the frame goes to OpenAI to be read.
5.5You may not:
6.1You keep your rights in your Content. We don't claim ownership of it.
6.2You give us a non-exclusive, free and worldwide licence to use your Content to run Krokiet. The licence covers storing and copying it, resizing and converting photos, removing metadata such as photo location, showing it to the people the app shows it to under clause 2.4, and passing it to our service providers so they can run the service for us.
6.3The licence ends when you delete the Content or your account. It continues, for as long as the privacy policy describes, for places you added, for menu lines you saved, and for meals and scores other people were at. That content stays in Krokiet without being linked to you.
6.4You confirm that you have the rights needed to give this licence.
7.1An automatic filter checks new place names and menu lines. If it finds swearing, a link or a phone number, only the author can see that Content until we review it. The app shows the author a note with the reason next to it. That note is the statement of reasons required by Article 17 of the Digital Services Act. It says what we restrict and why, that an automatic filter applied the restriction, and how to challenge it under clause 8.2. A person reviews all Content the filter holds back. If we approve it, others can see it. If we remove it, we email you a statement of reasons under clause 8.1. A person makes every decision to remove content or restrict an account.
7.2In the app you can report a friend who has their own account from their page (Friends, then the friend, then Report). You can report a place or a menu line from the place page.
7.3Unfriend, on the same page, works as a block. The person no longer sees meals you had without them, and you no longer see theirs.
7.4Anyone, including people without an account, can notify us of content they consider illegal by emailing contact@krokiet.app. A notice should contain:
7.5We confirm receipt of a notice by email. We then tell the sender our decision and how to challenge it.
7.6We aim to review reports and notices within 24 hours.
7.7We don't tell a reported person who reported them.
7.8If Content or conduct breaks these terms or the law, we may hide the Content, remove it, suspend the account for a period, or delete the account. The measure depends on how serious the breach is and whether it is repeated.
8.1If we remove your Content, hide it in any way other than the filter in clause 7.1, or suspend or delete your account, we email you a statement of reasons no later than when the measure takes effect. It says:
8.2You can reply to the statement within six months of receiving it and explain why you disagree. Challenging a decision is free. A person reviews the decision and we answer you by email within 14 days. If the decision was wrong, we reverse it without delay. The sender of a notice can challenge our decision on it the same way.
8.3This procedure doesn't limit your right to go to court or, as a consumer, to use the consumer bodies described in section 14.
9.1You can complain about how Krokiet works or how we provide it, including about Krokiet Plus, by emailing contact@krokiet.app. To challenge a moderation decision, use section 8.
9.2A complaint should contain your name, the email address of your account, a description of the problem and what you want us to do.
9.3We answer complaints by email within 14 days of receiving them.
10.1You can end the contract at any time, without giving a reason and at no cost, by deleting your account. In the app open Profile, tap Delete my account, then Delete it permanently. Deletion is immediate and can't be undone. You can also ask us to delete your account by email.
10.2We may end the contract with immediate effect by deleting your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms or the law. You receive a statement of reasons under section 8.
10.3We may also end the contract without a breach on your side, but only for an important reason: we stop providing Krokiet as a whole, or a change in the law, or a court or authority decision, prevents us from providing it. We give you at least 30 days' notice by email. Until the end date you can ask us by email for a copy of your data. Monthly and yearly subscriptions don't renew after the end date.
10.4When the contract ends, Krokiet Plus on your account ends too, including Plus for life. Deleting your account doesn't cancel a monthly or yearly subscription with Apple or Google. Cancel it first as clause 2.8 describes, or it keeps renewing.
11.1We provide the free part of Krokiet as it is. We don't guarantee any level of availability or that Krokiet is free of errors. We may pause it for maintenance or security and change its features, but we won't remove what Krokiet Plus includes while it is paid for.
11.2We may change Krokiet Plus during a paid period only for a reason listed in clause 13.1, and at no cost to you. If a change makes your access to Plus or your use of it worse in more than a minor way, we tell you by email before it applies, and you may withdraw from the contract for Plus within 30 days of the change, as the Polish Consumer Rights Act provides.
11.3Places, menu lines and scores come from users and open map data and may be wrong. An AI model reads menu text from photos and the person who scanned the menu checks it, so dish names and prices may still be wrong. Don't rely on Krokiet for prices, allergens or dietary information. Ask the restaurant.
11.4We work out the place scores and rankings you see only from scores given by you, your friends and the guests that you or a friend scored. We don't check whether someone ate the dish they score. No one can pay to change a score or a ranking.
11.5We aren't responsible for Content that users post, provided we act under section 7 once we learn it is illegal.
11.6Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for harm caused intentionally or through gross negligence, for personal injury, or any liability or right that mandatory consumer law protects.
12.1Some features use services run by others, under their own terms. Apple and Google handle sign-in if you choose them, and sell Krokiet Plus. OpenAI reads menu photos. OpenFreeMap serves the map tiles. Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze open when you tap Directions.
12.2The app and the website, including their code, design, name and logo, belong to us or our licensors. You may use them only as part of using Krokiet.
12.3On iPhone you get the app from Apple's App Store. Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement governs your licence to install and use the app. These terms govern the service. Apple is not a party to these terms and has no duty to maintain or support Krokiet. If that agreement conflicts with mandatory consumer law, the law prevails. On Android you get the app from Google Play, and Google Play's terms govern your licence to install it.
13.1We may change these terms only for one of these reasons:
13.2We email you at least 14 days before a change applies, with what changes and a link to the new text. The dates at the top of this page change with it.
13.3If you don't accept a change, you can delete your account before it applies, at no cost. If you keep your account after that date, the new terms apply. A change doesn't reduce what Krokiet Plus includes for a period you have already paid for.
14.1Polish law governs these terms. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of that country's law.
14.2If you are a consumer, you may bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live.
14.3Consumers in Poland can get free help from a municipal or district consumer ombudsman (rzecznik konsumentów) or the Trade Inspection (Inspekcja Handlowa). The President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) keeps a register of bodies that resolve consumer disputes out of court, with their contact details, at uokik.gov.pl. Consumers in other EU countries can get help from the European Consumer Centre in their country. Using an out-of-court route is voluntary for both sides.
14.4A natural person who runs a business and uses Krokiet for a purpose that isn't professional for them has the protection the law gives such a person, including under article 385⁵ of the Polish Civil Code.
15.1If any clause of these terms is found invalid, the other clauses remain in force.
15.2contact@krokiet.app is our single point of contact under articles 11 and 12 of the Digital Services Act, for users, for the authorities of EU member states, for the European Commission and for the European Board for Digital Services. We communicate in English and Polish.
15.3These terms take effect on 26 September 2026.
