Krokiet is a small app for rating restaurant dishes with your friends. It is run by one person. This page says what it stores, who can see it, and how to get rid of it.

What it stores

Location

The map asks for your location so it can show what is near you and so a place you add by hand lands on the right street. Your coordinates are sent with those requests and used to answer them. They are not written down, not kept, and no history of where you have been is built.

The app never asks for location on launch. The prompt belongs to the button that goes to where you are and to adding a place, which are the two moments where the reason is on the screen. Refuse it and everything except those two things still works.

What it does not do

Who can see your ratings

A rating is visible to you, to the friends you have both accepted, and through the stand-in profiles you or those friends created for people without the app. That is the whole rule and it is enforced in one place in the code. Strangers never see your ratings and never affect your rankings.

Where it lives

On one server in Frankfurt, Germany, rented from DigitalOcean, in a PostgreSQL database. Photos, when they ship, go to Cloudflare R2. Sign-in is handled on that same server; Google and Apple see only that you signed in to Krokiet.

Deleting your account

There is a delete button inside the app. Using it removes your account, your email address and your friendships immediately and permanently. There is no undo and no grace period.

One thing survives, deliberately. The scores you gave stay attached to the meals your friends recorded, under a name with no person behind it any more. Deleting them instead would quietly rewrite dinners other people were at and tear holes in their own history. If you would rather the scores went too, email the address below and they will be deleted.

How long it is kept

Until you delete it. Krokiet is a record of meals you want to remember, so nothing expires on a timer.

Children

Krokiet is not directed at children and is not designed for them.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes with it and the app says so the next time you open it.

Getting in touch

Questions, or a request for a copy or a deletion of your data: contact@krokiet.app. It is one person reading, so give it a day or two.
